Green Group
September 22, 2021
We got off the bus at the AMC base lodge stepping into a brisk blanket of fog, our curious young minds taking in the new surroundings. We walked up to the field stacked with solar panels, being greeted by the guides before dropping our heavy bags on the wet, dew-covered grass. We played games such as Mountain Baseball and Duck Duck Goose. Then after finding our groups and getting to know each other a bit, we headed off on the hike. After walking a little while, we stopped to draw a sketch. I got a mystery item from the woods and had to describe it while Will did his best to draw it, then we switched roles. After that, our AMC guide, Tom, introduced us to the Wild Cucumber, an edible plant native to Cardigan mountain. We kept hiking until we came across an old cellar where we stopped to have lunch. Inside the cellar we also came across a geocache which we signed our names on. After lunch we kept going, we crossed many streams, I peed in the woods more than once using hobblebush for toilet paper, we walked through the rain, and even found a little baby mole in their hole. Once we all got back to the bus we enjoyed a quiet, tired drive home.
